Amy Cherry began her career at the Battle Creek Outdoor Education Center in 1986 as an Instructor Counselor in the School Camp Program. In the spring of 1987 she transferred to the Farm Garden Program and spent the following 23 years there. She became the OEC Director in July, 2010. Amy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Cincinnati and a Master’s degree in Outdoor Teacher Education from Northern Illinois University. She is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), is a Licensed Brain Gym® Practitioner, and is a Wilderness First Responder. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, she enjoys reading, swimming, and watching movies with her family; husband, Jason and their two sons, Alex and Marshall.

Jenny Madden

Program Coordinator

Jenny has been an educator for the past 20 years, as a Montessori Guide, working with 3-6 year old children and their families. She has also earned certifications as a Michigan Master Naturalist and a Forest Therapy Guide. Jenny enjoys spending time outdoors and learning about the natural world. Sharing the joys of the natural world with others and nurturing a sense of wonder in all ages are two of her greatest passions. Jenny cherishes spending time with her family and creating memories with her grandchildren.

Matthew Santner

Matthew Santner

Events & Day Program Coordinator

Matthew Santner began working at Clear Lake Camp in the fall of 2009 as an instructor and became Coordinator in spring 2012. Matthew graduated from Beloit College, Beloit, Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Geology. Previously, Matthew has taught outdoor education in Rhode Island and Illinois. Matthew directed the nature program at a boys summer camp in northern Wisconsin. When not teaching outdoor education, Matthew runs far.
